The Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny have been running Dr. Roque Ferreira Hospital since 1962 in Verna Goa to cater to the health care of the people of Verna and neighboring villages with the population of around 30,000. Presently the hospital runs with a part time OPD, rehabilitation unit with out any modern infrastructural amenities and facilities. Present building was built about 500 years ago, and is in a dilapidated state.

In the midst of commercialization of health care and the increasing tendency of exploitation of sickness and suffering, we the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny have decided to come up with a full fledged hospital for the people of Verna and neighboring villages. The proposed new hospital will be named as St. Joseph Vaz Hospital.
